Tea by the Pond

Well, it's quite a hot and humid day, here in Indiana! I was only able to sit out by my little fish pond and rock waterfall for a few sips of tea and a cupcake. Thank goodness, it was overcast most of the time. There isn't much shade in this part of my garden, so when the sun did peek out, it got quite steamy, I did want to share some new finds and a few additions to my tea collection. So, please join me for a short cup of tea.
The teapot, I have shared before, but the teacups are new!!
I hand-painted the teacups at a local pottery studio (Pottery Bayou) I think I matched the colors of my teapot, purchased at Goodwill, pretty closely.
A little corner of shade from a rose tree was all I had, so it was where I sat.
The strawberry cupcakes were left over from a friend's graduation open house she had on Sunday. Delicious!!
A flowing fountain, surrounded by rocks, is the scenery.
I love the checkered rug, found at Lowe's. It goes well with the checks in the coasters and on my teapot.

My garden bench is flanked on both sides by potted rose trees, which I recently transplanted, so they currently aren't flowering.

Just living is not enough... one must have sunshine, freedom, and a little flower.  ~Hans Christian Andersen

I found this sunflower serving plate at a thrift store, it was only $3.00
These home-sewn coasters were only $1.75 at the same thrift store..
Hope you enjoyed your short visit to my garden pond. I think I'll spend the rest of my day inside!! Whew!

For many of you, who have taken part in the tea party hops below, I had been posting my tea posts from my other blog, Christ in the Clouds. (You can find most of my tea posts HERE ) I am now posting anything to do with tea to this blog. Make sure that if you had followed my other blog, to follow this one, as well. For some reason, I am not able to put the Google Friend Connect on my side bar. If anyone has had the same issue and got it worked out, please let me know what I need to do. Until then, feel free to follow me on my Linky page or through RSS feed or email.

    1. I really love that little area of my garden. The only thing different I'd like to have is a little more shade. Maybe a trellis over the bench or a small tree.

    1. You are so kind to say so! I'm not a great artist or anything, but it's amazing what a little matching of the colors can do!! If you've not been to a pottery studio before, it's quite fun to do!

  6. Oh WoW! This looks lovely... can I come to tea please? It looks fab-ulicious!!! I have a thing about nice tea/coffee pots and cups... and well - the cupcakes would be gone by now if I could get into the picture!!!!!

Hope things work out soon re: the cottage... by the way, I voted for Cairn Cottage... coming from Scotland - how could I not?

    1. Well, thank you so much, Wendy for voting! It was a difficult choice for me, but having everyone's feedback was SO helpful! It's interesting that many people had never heard of the term before. I'm not from Scotland, but my hubby and I are rock collectors, so in a sense we build our own mini-cairns all over. I would have loved to have you as a guest at my little teatime. Thanks for stopping by!!

  7. Hello Ann,
Congratulations on your lovely new blog!
Your two new cups do go very well with your GW tea pot find! You matched them up well. The checkered covering works beautifully too. How lovely to have a garden to sit and sip tea in...even if it is hot!
